Stock
screening is the process of finding stocks that meet
certain
criteria. The Yahoo! Finance Stock Screener enables
you to search
through thousands of potential stocks using dozens
of different
criteria. Create Your Own Screen Create
your own screen by choosing a criterion, then choosing a condition, and then choosing a value. For
example, if you wanted to create a screen to find stocks
with price-earning ratios or P/Es less than or equal
to 10, then you
would click on the New Screen icon at the top of the
screener. Then
you would click on the field below Criteria, choose
Valuation from the
drop-down menu, and choose P/E from the sub-menu. Next,
you would
click on the field below Conditions and choose <=
from the drop-down
menu. Then you would click on the field below Values
and choose 10
from the drop-down menu. Finally, you would click on
the Run Screen
button. The screener then shows stocks that meet your
criteria in the
table below. Screens typically include more than a
single criterion
which you can add by repeating the steps above for
additional criteria.
Each additional criterion may reduce the total number of results. |
